FrameStar^® PCR plates have a two-component design, which combines the advantages of thin wall polypropylene tubes, for optimum PCR results and a rigid polycarbonate skirt and deck, for highest thermal stability and rigidty. In contrast to standard one-piece PCR plates, evaporation from corner positions and outer rows of wells is minimal, which allows for downscaling of reagent volumes and therefore saves costs. This semi-skirted low profile plate is recommended for ABi Fast Block thermal cyclers. Low profile plates have shorter wells than standard profile plates, decreasing the "dead space" between the heated lid of the thermal cycler and the sample. This eliminates condensation on the side wall of the tube, preventing reduction in PCR volume and increasing the efficiency of the reaction. Low profile products are especially recommended for use with reaction volumes below 20µl. The rigid 2-component design eliminates warping and distortion during PCR making it ideal for use with robotic systems. The semi-skirt allows for labelling or barcoding.

Now with frosted wells for ABi/LifeTech qPCR instruments

While clear wells are the best for sample visibility and optical appeal, white wells increase the signal to noise ratio by maximising reflection of light. This leads to better sensitivity and reproducibility with a wide range of qPCR instruments from most manufacturers.

However, white well PCR plates may lead to software related problems with ABI/Life Tech cyclers. For this reason the manufacturer recommends the use of plates with frosted wells as a compromise solution. Although the frosting does not provide the same sensitivity as white wells, readings are still considerably higher than those achieved with standard clear wells.

4titude has developed a frosted well variant of the FrameStar FastPlate 96 to offer ABI/Life Tech instrument users the time and money saving advantages of FrameStar. And as the signal levels are directly comparable with ABI/Life Tech, there's no need for users to recalibrate their instruments.

To order your plates with barcodes, simply add /SBC to the end of the ordering code for Standard Single Barcoding, /DBC for Standard Double Barcoding, /TBC for Standard Triple Barcoding, or /QBC for Standard Quadruple Barcoding (see Barcoding for more details).

Please be aware the barcoding products have a minimum order quantity of 10 boxes with 50 plates.
