Microfluids Chips
Product informationA microfluidic chip is a set of microchannels etched into a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) polymer or other material. The functionality of a particular device depends on the design of microchannels and how they are connected. Choose from a wide range of off-the-shelf microfluidic chips for droplet generation, droplet splitting, droplet merging, and picoinjection as well as cell barcoding and droplet sorting applications. Our microfluidic chips are thoroughly tested for use with the Onyx and Styx systems and will produce the most consistent and reliable results. For unconventional experiment needs, our experienced engineers will manufacture custom microfluidic devices with a fast turnaround time.
Our reagents and consumables are thoroughly tested for use with the Onyx and Styx systems and can be used to produce the most consistent and reliable results. Droplet stabilization oil surrounds the droplets to prevent them from coalescing and maintains their size and shape. Sample loading oil prevents the formation of air bubbles and facilitates the transfer of samples to the microfluidic channels. Spacing oil serves as a lubricant and improves liquid flow control. When compartments are no longer needed, the emulsion breaker can be used to recover droplet contents.
Custom Chip Design
To help you accomplish even the most complex microfluidic assay ideas, we offer custom chip prototyping and manufacturing services with a fast turnaround time. The engineering costs are paid only once, so all subsequent chips of the same design will come at a standard price. All custom client designs are kept strictly confidential.
Typical Project Workflow
A custom microfluidic chip is designed according to the client’s needs and specifications by our highly experienced engineers.
2−5 Days
The prepared design is used to make a high-resolution photolithography mask, which is then patterned on a silicon wafer by photolithography. The prepared template is inspected and measured to verify the feature quality.
7−10 Days
PDMS elastomer is cast on a photolithography template and the design of microchannels is imprinted on the polymer’s surface. The PDMS slab is then bound to a glass slide and the device channels coated to achieve a hydrophobic or a hydrophilic surface. The quality of each chip is manually inspected prior to shipping.
