DANVERS, MA (PRWEB) – September 25, 2018 The Boston Business Journal (BBJ) named cell Signaling Technology (CST), a worldwide provider of antibodies, as a 2017 top corporate charitable contributor in Massachusetts. Announced at the 13th Annual Corporate Citizenship Awards on September 6th at Fenway Park in Boston, CST ranked 80th in Massachusetts among top charitable companies, with a total contribution of $325,000 to MA local charities. The 2018 BBJ awards recognized the top 100 companies who contributed more than $100,000 to Massachusetts’s organizations in 2017.
CST has maintained a commitment to investing in community organizations in the North Shore area of Boston and beyond. CST gives back to our communities in a variety of ways: a robust volunteer program, corporate grants, and a small grants program that includes Education in Science Grants, Environmental Grants, and Community Grants. In addition, CST runs a large summer internship program and a Science Scholarship Program, which offered four $10,000 scholarships to high school students in selected Boston North Shore communities last year.
CST’s philanthropic funding decisions, with financial support for projects ranging from $500-$8,000, are awarded twice a year and made primarily by employee-led committees. CST is proud to announce that the 2017 annual budgets for each of our small grant committees were raised to $70,000, which explains the leap in the amount of total philanthropic contributions over previous years. Grants awarded in 2017 funded a diverse range of local community projects including Pathways for Children, local Summer Literacy Programs, Seaside Sustainability, The Open Door, and RAW Arts, among others.
“At CST, we are dedicated to strengthening and investing in our communities. We are pleased to provide financial support with our various grant programs and very proud of our employees, who collectively donated over 1,600 hours to working with local charitable organizations,” said John Letcher, Cell Signaling Technology Senior Vice President of Global Human Resources. “Being recognized by the BBJ is an honor, and it highlights the ongoing philanthropic work of CST in our local communities.”
CST’s charitable initiatives are part of a broader Corporate Social Responsibility focus that includes lab sustainability efforts, incentives for alternative transportation, in-house exhibits showcasing local artists, and community vegetable gardens.
